Jewelry - Fine Beadwork

Inspired by the connection between the maker and the wearer…

Mikelle Hickman-Romine is a Columbus, Ohio-based jewelry designer. Her "fine beadwork" is an innovative blend of peyote stitched components, gems, pearl beads, and wire work that merges to create lightweight, wearable, fashion-forward, one-of-a-kind stunners.

She got her start in beadwork and wire sculpture when she was just twelve years old, and has steadily progressed toward a workable fusion of the two media. A fascination with antique Kashmiri shawls developed into an interest in Indian jewelry design, which informs her color ways and design shapes. Floral influences are clear in the leaf and flower representations in her work.

Mikelle is a member of the Ohio Designer Craftsmen and has exhibited her work at the Columbus Cultural Arts Center and ODC's Columbus Winterfair. Her work has been included in the Ohio Craft Museum,"Best of" shows in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013.
