Lampwork Jewelry

Inspired by fire…

In 2020, Helen began practicing the ancient art of lampworking. The artist is inspired working with fire, as “Helen” translates to “torch” in Greek. Born and based in Columbus, Helen enjoys the therapeutic nature of repetitive patterns and the struggle in pursuit of perfection. She is amused by rich saturated colors and the optic qualities of layering transparents and opaques.

Helen strives to provoke wonder, encouraging viewers to feel the bead in their hands. Being West-African, a culture rich in bead history, highly influences her work and color theory. She has studied at Corning Museum of Glass, Salem Community College and Glass Axis Studio.
